ignore bill simmons' pieces of this email exchange. They only reveal him to be the second-tier jester whom we love because he isn't so different from us. focus on gladwell. it is awesome.

Comments:
Malcolm Gladwell is great. I've read all of his books, and I got a chance to meet him when he was in Madison last year, and we talked about the Buffalo Bills for a little bit.

A couple of years ago, my brother and I had the Duke/UConn idea; I think we included Kansas (that was when they had the Vaughn-LaFrentz-Pollard-Pierce team.) We said, if Coach K, Roy Williams and Jim Calhoun are the best coaches in college basketball, why not draft the best available player from their teams, if you don't know who else to pick? At worst, you'll get a smart and disciplined player who is coachable and can play in a system. At worst, you get Daniel Ewing or Jeff McInnis.

The high school big man with athletic ability is becoming for the NBA what the hard-throwing high school pitcher is to the NBA. For every one that turns into Staudmire or John Smoltz, there are 25 you never hear from again! I don't know why NBA GMs can be so shitty.
