The stick I took to the cheek durign spongee which I thought was just a little cut decided to swell over the weekend and now the decomposing RBCs have migrated the orbital socket. (I have a black eye). So now my profs think I am a barroom brawler all in the name of defending zoology's honor.

Am I the only person who thinks the 'skins way overpaid for antwaan randle-el? I see this as being a classic dan snyder move whih will be filed next to Deion Sanders.

why didn't the caps move kolzig at the deadline?

candlesticks are always a nice gift. Now, let's turn two.

Comments:
I think Kolzig wanted to retire as a Cap, and they gave him a long term deal earlier this year to facilitate that.

Antwaan is only in his fourth year and a proven game-breaker right now. And just incidentally, despite repeated warnings of Snyder's profligate spending and its looming downsides, when have those predictions actually come true? Yes, we've sucked. But always by picking the wrong people. The overpaying thing is something that annoying, moralizing sports columnists love to harp on.

moralizing sports columnists harp on george steinbrenner because baseball does have a cap which makes salaries a moral issue (see gladwell piece below). Profligate spending in capped sports like football is destructive. While I appreciate your point about randel-el's abilities, I am leery of signing people fresh from the halo of superbowl glory. Remember when Larry Brown got all that money and we haven't heard from him since.

Oh, she may get wooly. Women do get wooly, because of all the stress.

Kolzig is the veteran leader of a very young team and said he wanted to stay and help rebuild. More importantly, the Caps have SHIT as far as goalies behind him, both at the NHL and minor league level. Both goalies in Hershey are 30-ish journeymen and Brent Johnson, well, if anyone was watching on OLN last night, that's all you need.

Randle-El signing I'd be cooler with if they hadn't just traded draft picks for Brandon Lloyd. I trust that Al Saunders use Randle-El to the best of his ability. What's pissing me off is their refusal to address their needs at offensive line, defensive line, and cornerback. They could certainly have used the money better they spent on Archuleta and need the draft picks they traded for Lloyd.

Could I pay some of y'all to come talk sports on my site? My friends suck.
