Me either.
Talk about a nation with a PR problem. They tout Brian Adams, Celine Dion, and sometimes The Tragically Hip,when they have the male Patti Smith in their back pocket. oh well.

here is a bit of prairie joy (it's a song, if you are at work): http://www.relaxism.com/RXMusic/pirate.mp3
lyrics are here: http://www.relaxism.com/artofrx.html
no, this isn't great big sea, it's the arrogant worms, but canadians do seem to have a fondness for double-strummed, uptempo, silly, folk music. I guess we have Paris Hilton. check mate.

GST=Government Sales Tax (introduced under Mulroney in the 80s). It is compounded by the PST (provicial sales tax) which are both appended to every purchase to tax the living hell out of everything.

Britt,

Its not just Leonard Cohen who the Canadians can proudly claim. Neil Young, Joni Mitchell, The Band, the New Pornographers, Diana Krall, the Tragically Hip and the Arcade Fire. Canada holds its own against any US state when it comes to turning out quality musicians.

I don't think that anyone wants us to start comparing Canada to a US state. If they do, then maybe we can talk Congress into allowing Canada and DC to be fairly represented in our nation's capitol.

And for the marbles, doesn't GST and PST pay for the fine socialized health-care that Canadians enjoy? And don't you get to apply for a refund?
