I am headed to iceland tomorrow morning. I am excited, but, boy, is it expensive there. hotdog=$14. Beer=$14. the bus=$14. (800 IKA (Icelandic Krona). we'll see how it goes. I suppose we are looking at Island Effect+Northern Effect+Scandanavian Socialism Effect=super high costs. Lonely Planet says that tinned fish is reasonably priced.

Have fun. My parents found it so expensive they left early. I ate tinned tuna for a week in Norway and I still ended up going through a record amount of money. That said, it was the best week of that year & that (very varied) trip. Please report back on how Icelanders say "hello." In Sweden it's "hey, hey." Or that's what it sounds like -- it's really 'hej, hej.' But anything that makes it seems like hot Swedish girls are trying to chat you up is a-okay with me.
Safe journeys.

My classmate Einar is from Iceland; everybody loves him. He's made us all want to visit Iceland! Also, be prepred to meet a bunch of 5'10" and 6'0" women and 6'7" men.
Teach us to care and not to care
Teach us to sit still
Even among these rocks,
Our peace in His will
And even among these rocks
Sister, mother
And spirit of the river, spirit of the sea,
Suffer me not to be separated
And let my cry come unto Thee.
